Blackened Steak
Makes 4 servings.
Preparation time: 8 minutes
Cooking time: 10 minutes
2 fillets or boneless strip steaks (about 3/4-inch thick), trimmed
2 tablespoons butter or oil
2 tablespoons McCormick Grill Mates Steak
1 teaspoon paprika
1 / 2 teaspoon thyme leaves
1 / 8-1 / 4 c. Cayenne Pepper Tea

1. Place a large cast iron frying pan (preferably) or large, heavy frying pan (not teflon) over high heat for 5 minutes, or until very hot. (See Test Kitchen Tips for using non-stick cookware.)

2. Rub the mixture type, red pepper, red pepper and thyme in small bowl.

3. Brush both sides of fillets with butter or oil. Season generously with the mixture of the Rub.

4. Fillets carefully into hot pan. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until desired doneness, turning once.

Test Kitchen tips:
Indications for the use of Teflon cookware: preparation of meat, as mentioned above. A large non-stick pan over medium heat for 5 minutes. Bake as above. Increase the cooking time to desired doneness required.
Steks can also be prepared directly on a preheated grill. The flavor and appearance may differ from the traditional method of frying pan.
